CARDI Leadership Programme Call 3 leaflet

On Friday 31 October 2014 CARDI launched a new call for Fellows under its Leadership Programme in Ageing Research. It will fund the salaries for three years of up to four research Fellows. The call will close on Friday 30 January 2015 and full terms of reference and application procedures are available here.

For example, by developing new technologies like patient-focused apps or robots that can monitor and assist us at home, we can help to keep older people active and independent for longer.

Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) 2013 Results

The Central Statistics Office (ROI) recently (January 21 2015) released the latest data from The Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) in Ireland. SILC is a household survey covering a broad range of issues in relation to income and living conditions.  It is the official source of data on household and individual income and also provides a number of key national poverty indicators, such as the ‘at risk of poverty’ rate, the consistent poverty rate and rates of enforced deprivation.  This report presents the results for 2013 and comparable data for previous years.

Genio Annual Dementia Conference 2014: presentations

On Friday 12th December 2014 in the O'Callaghan Alexander Hotel, Dublin Genio hosted almost 200 healthcare professionals, family members, academics, carers and volunteers working with and supporting people with dementia to hear from national and international experts in the field. Living with venous thromboembolism: resources

The nonprofit Alliance for Aging Research has launched a campaign to raise awareness about venous thromboembolism (VTE), the third most common cardiovascular illness, and its associated conditions deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). These resources highlight risk factors, symptoms, and medical options and empower people at risk with VTE to seek treatment so they can control, manage, and live with their condition.
