Ageing emerged as an important theme at the international Living Knowledge Conference 2009, hosted by the Science Shop at Queen’s University Belfast at the end of August.

Robin Webster, chief executive of Age Action Ireland, was a guest speaker at the opening plenary session, where his wise and witty comments about the importance of partnerships prompted several supporting comments from the audience.

This was followed by a workshop, facilitated by CARDI, entitled ‘Encouraging models of knowledge exchange: planning for demographic change’.  Dr Michael Quinn an emerging researcher on ageing made a thoughtful and well-researched presentation on how to engage older people in research.
