The New York Academy of Medicine's Division of Health Policy examines the role of older person’s centres in providing basic and extended services to older adults, and the future needs of these centres, as they reach out to the growing older population in New York City.
There are several questions this report aims to address:
- What are the needs of older adults in NYC?
- How are those needs met by existing resources outside of older adult centres?
- How do current older adult centres address these needs?
- What is the evidence of older adult centre effectiveness in meeting those needs?
- Are there changes that would help older adult centres address needs better?
The report outlines a number of policy and practice recommendations to improve older adult centres.
