Number of centenarians in England and Wales increases 90-fold since 1911There were 9,300 centenarians (people aged 100 years or more) in England and Wales in 2007, according to new experimental population estimates released today by the Office for National Statistics. This is an increase of more than 90-fold since 1911 when the estimated number was around 100.
