policyStroke is the third leading cause of death and disability worldwide and constitutes a formidable burden of disability for patients, their families, health professionals and the wider community. A local evidence base is essential in planning and evaluating service delivery. In the absence of such information in Ireland, the overall aim of the project was to conduct a national stroke audit of hospital and community stroke services in the Republic of Ireland.
