Older people on lower incomes and living in deprived areas across the island of Ireland have considerably worse health than better off people of the same age, according to a study (released Thursday 29 January 2015) by researchers from Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin.

On Friday 31 October 2014 CARDI launched a new call for Fellows under its Leadership Programme in Ageing Research. It will fund the salaries for three years of up to four research Fellows. The call will close on Friday 30 January 2015 and full terms of reference and application procedures are available here.

Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) 2013 Results

The Central Statistics Office (ROI) recently (January 21 2015) released the latest data from The Survey on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) in Ireland. SILC is a household survey covering a broad range of issues in relation to income and living conditions.  It is the official source of data on household and individual income and also provides a number of key national poverty indicators, such as the ‘at risk of poverty’ rate, the consistent poverty rate and rates of enforced deprivation.  This report presents the results for 2013 and comparable data for previous years.

Genio Annual Dementia Conference 2014: presentations

Living with venous thromboembolism: resources

The nonprofit Alliance for Aging Research has launched a campaign to raise awareness about venous thromboembolism (VTE), the third most common cardiovascular illness, and its associated conditions deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
