Ireland's ageing population will increase the demand for health services in the coming years
The most recent CSO figures show that currently 11% of the Irish population are over the age of 65 years. The CSO's population forecasts estimate that by 2041, this may have increased to 25% of the population being aged over 65 years1. This change in age profile of the population is predicted to significantly increase the demand for health services
