People with Parkinson's report subtle, but frustrating, changes in language and thinking. In order to use language effectively, we must simultaneously carry out a number of mental tasks. As we speak, we must reflect upon our thoughts, decide what is relevant, check for errors and be aware of what is going on in the mind of the person to whom we are speaking. Parkinson's causes changes in the way these tasks are carried out.
