The Government has responded to the Work and Pensions Select Committee’s report on pensioner poverty (see Age Agenda Bulletin October 2009). This states that around 900,000 pensioners have been lifted out of relative poverty since 1998 but that the Government recognises that there is more do to do and a key priority is to ensure people are receiving the support to which they are entitled.
