Submission/Application Process
Q. Can applications be made electronically only with electronic digital signatures or do you need hard copy sign off?
Yes, the entire process can be completed electronically; we do not need hard-copy sign-off. You can use digital signatures or scanned signatures.
Q. Who do we send the completed application form to?
Email it to info@cardi.ie
Q. Who do you expect to act as referees?
Mostly these will be academic referees but we will also be happy with references from other sources e.g. people in the voluntary and community sector.
Q. Can we put in more than three applicants?
Yes, just add their names and brief details on a separate sheet.
Q. Can the project have more than two co-applicants?
Yes, just add their names on a separate sheet or, if you do not have an ‘applicant/researcher’ you can put the details at the bottom of page 2 of the application form and amend accordingly.
Q. In the application form, section 6 (brief Summary), does the 500 word limit include the references or are they separate?
Yes the 500-word limit includes references. We advise that you include sparingly the author, book/article and date in the text but without the accompanying bibliography; if we need to follow up on any references we can get back to you about them.
Q. Can I just submit an application saying I would like to create a research network?
Preliminary work is required. Applicants should be able to identify partners and what they are trying to achieve. They may not have reached final agreement but should know roughly where they are going.
Q. Can I apply for more than one grant? Can I be involved in more than one application?
Yes, provided you are not the principal investigator on more than one proposal. There is one exception. You can be the PI for a research proposal and also the lead applicant for a project to create or develop research networks.
Q. How long and detailed should my application be? How can I submit it?
Applications must comply with the instructions on the application form. They can be made on-line at www.cardi.ie/grantprogramme, returned by post or hand-delivered.
