Forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn is helping oldies to get to grips with technology by launching a campaign to help them understand the online world.

Dame Vera is taking part in Silver Surfers' Day later this week and launching an effort by record label Decca to enable the older generation to learn to download.

The 93-year-old has recorded a video message to explain it is "never too late to learn".

Dame Vera, who is Decca's longest serving recording artist, can be seen on the company's website . The firm is offering discounts for older internet users.

"Who better than Dame Vera to bring the wonders of digital music into the homes of older consumers, showing us all that age is no barrier to technology?" said Decca managing director Dickon Stainer.

Silver Surfers' Day - which is fronted by Sir Terry Wogan - takes place on Friday with more than 1,500 events designed to raise awareness of the internet among older users.
