Social networking for silver surfers
Age Concern England's myfriends online week is 16-20 March - it's an event to highlight the opportunities for older people to make new friends and keep in touch with family at home and abroad online.
Age Concern England is organising a number of initiatives in 2009 to encourage older people to get online and access the many social benefits of using technology.
Currently in the UK, over nine million 55 plus year olds are excluded from using technologies. The aim is to inspire and support many more older people to access the benefits of using technology.
Their next event is myfriends online week from 16-20 March - an event to highlight the opportunities for older people to make new friends and keep in touch with family at home and abroad. Age Concern England invites your organisation to participate in this event!
It's not too late to host an event during the week - you could help your silver surfers discover the potential of online social networking during a myfriends online week event.
An event holder's guide is available to help you plan your event. You'll find electronic versions of branded campaign posters, press releases, information guides and more!
Time is tight, so if you can't set up an event, but you're interested in linking in with the UK, why not visit the community site and have some online chats with our silver surfers - they'd love to hear from you!
