Half of all women carers over 65 devote more than 43 hours per week to caring, according to a new report from the Older Women’s Network (OWN). Other issues highlighted in the report include the fact that cardiovascular disease is the biggest cause of death in women, especially in the aged.
It says more than half of all cancers in women occur after the age of 65, with breast cancer being the most common cause of death.
The report also pointed out that there was a significant employment gap between men and women, where 46.6 per cent more men than women were employed over the age of 65.
