Partners needed for European project on Age Friendly Communities

Are you interested in partnering Welsh colleagues in a European project on Age Friendly Communities?
Conwy County Borough Council, North Wales, is seeking Irish partners for an initiative to address in a sustainable way the issues created by demographic change by supporting intergenerational community management in the Welsh and Irish partners’ localities.
In order to be eligible, partners should be located in counties Dublin, Waterford, Kilkenny, Meath, Kildare, Wexford, Wicklow or Carlow.
The project will support the cohesion of intergenerational neighbourhoods and the development of intergenerational community strategies as described in the enclosed project idea.
It is intended to apply for funding from the INTERREG IVA Wales/Ireland programme under priority 2 “Climate Change and Sustainable Regeneration”. Deadline for submitting the project proposal is 11 June 2010.
The project’s activities will be articulated around the following themes:
· Developing a transnational strategy
· Developing local strategies
· Developing public spaces
· Preserving cultural heritage and history
· Encouraging healthy lifestyles
· Supporting environmental sustainability
· Supporting life-long-learning
