NICE issues final guidance on preventing fractures due to osteoporosis

United Kingdom The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has today (27 October) published final guidance on the use of drugs to prevent osteoporotic fractures in postmenopausal women. The two pieces of guidance cover the use of drugs in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis who have not yet had a fracture (known as primary prevention), and on the use of drugs for the prevention of further fractures in postmenopausal women who have already had a fracture (known as secondary prevention).
