The Bealtaine Festival is Ireland's national festival celebrating creativity in older age. Now in its 14th year, Bealtaine is an agenda-setting cultural first, an Irish innovation which invites older people to take part in the Arts as artists, performers, event organisers and audiences. In 2009, nearly 60,000 older people participated in over 2000 events in 26 counties organized by 403 organisers including National Cultural Institutions, Regional Arts Centres, Public Libraries, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Active Retirement Associations and many community groups.
