CARDI is delighted to present a new series of guest blogs from ageing researchers, older peoples’ organisations and other experts in the area of ageing. 
This month's guest blog comes via David Andrewes from Eastleigh Southern Parishes Older People’s Forum (ESPOPF), an older peoples’ organisation based in the UK. In this blog post David writes about the role of research in making life better for older people and his own organisation’s research initiatives:
"Older people want to live independently, but they need help to do this. That help will come, in the main, from their local councils and health services and the challenge is getting officers, managers, councillors to take on the agenda for age-friendly communities.
