CARDI announces recipients of research workshop bursaries
Northern Ireland
CARDI is pleased to announce that it will be giving bursaries to three researchers to attend a workshop for early career academics.
“CARDI is delighted to support attendance for this workshop which offers participants an opportunity to hear presentations from experienced researchers within gerontology and take part in an intense proposal writing session. Developing the ageing research community is vital to help plan for the future - today’s research can help inform tomorrow’s practice – something in which we all have a vested interest”, says Dr Roger O'Sullivan, Director of CARDI.
The workshop run by Professor Alan Walker of the New Dynamics of Ageing (NDA) will take place on Monday 5 July 2010. The recipients are:
- Donna Brown from the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust
- Attracta Lafferty from the National Centre for the Protection of Older People, University College Dublin
- Annalisa Setti from Trinity College Dublin
There is huge demand for workshops for early career researchers run by Professor Walker as they can be a launch pad for academic careers by doctoral and post-doctoral researchers. The workshop will involve presentations by experienced researchers within gerontology and then an intense proposal writing workshop in the afternoon as well as an opportunity to network with leaders in ageing research.
This workshop is part of a pre-conference programme to the British Society of Gerontology (BSG) 2010 conference at Brunel University, London (www.bsg2010brunel.org.uk).
CARDI is providing a bursary to attend which will cover travel and subsistence and the BSG conference fees.
