A new study in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease shows that apple juice reduces memory loss in mice.
Commenting on the research, Harriet Millward, Deputy Chief Executive of the Alzheimer's Research Trust, said:
“Could an apple a day keep Alzheimer’s at bay? We need far more research before we can be sure whether apple juice protects us from Alzheimer’s, so there’s no need to re-write our shopping lists just yet. The findings add to evidence showing that a healthy diet is important for protecting against diseases like Alzheimer’s. Sales of apple juice are on the rise, suggesting many of us may already be wise to its possible benefits.
“Much more research is needed if we are to offer hope to the 700,000 people in the UK who live with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.”
