The annual flu vaccination campaign begins today. The main groups targeted for the vaccine are those over 65 years, those with chronic health conditions and frontline medical staff. The protection is for the seasonal flu and does not protect against human swine flu (influenza A H1N1). The seasonal flu vaccine is free of charge. Patients with a medical card, or GP card, are not charged for the administration of the vaccine by their doctor. However, GPs may charge a fee for other patients.
