Alzheimer Café Dublin: Come along for some tea and chat
The Alzheimer Café, an international concept, is now in Ireland.
The Alzheimer Café is a safe and relaxed place where people with dementia, their families and health and social care professionals come together for a unique blend of education and support. It is a forum where people can exchange experiences and talk about dementia.
Its introduction to Dublin is led by a group of health service professionals aware of the critical need for more social supports for both people with dementia and their family caregivers in Ireland. The initiative is supported by Sonas aPc, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI), the Dementia Services Information and Development Centre (DSIDC), the Health Service Executive (HSE), Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI), Third Age and Living with Dementia (LiD) Trinity College Dublin.
The Alzheimer Cafe is a platform for support, advocacy, education, information, empowerment and for openness and inclusion rather than avoidance.
The Alzheimer Cafe is held on the second Thursday of every month
Time and venue: 7pm - 9pm, The Avila Centre, Donnybrook, Dublin 4
Next Meeting: Thursday 12th January 2012
