Too Old To Hurt

This presentation will focus on the issues surrounding the abuse of older people and other adults at risk. Using information from the Action on Elder Abuse helpline and the UK prevalence study to suggest that currently we are offering a second class protection service to may of those most vulnerable.
Daniel Blake has worked for Action on Elder Abuse since 2004. He is currently the Policy Development Manager. He has strategic responsibility for the elder abuse response helpline, as well as leading for the organisation on criminal justice work, older people and domestic violence and working with care providers. Daniel also has overall management responsibility for five strategic projects funded by Comic Relief, carried out in partnership with other voluntary organisations. He has worked on a Department of Health funded project looking at adult protection data monitoring and performance measures. The results of this were accepted in full by Government at the 2006 AEA national conference.
