Aim: This workshop provides participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes
necessary to provide physical and sensory stimulation for older people in various care
settings
Objectives: Participants will:
• Explore definitions of restraint.
• Engage in a review of the research into the use of chemical and physical restraint.
• Reflect on perceptions and rationale for the use of restraint
• Understand the legal and ethical issues, consequences and effects of restraint.
• Engage in creatively seeking alternatives to restraint
Target Audience: Nurses, Doctors, Allied Health Professionals, Health Care Assistants.
