Aim: This participative workshop aims to provide participants with the knowledge,
skills and attitudes necessary to provide physical and sensory stimulation for older
people in various care settings
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
• Appreciate the value/benefits of physical and sensory stimulation
• Reflect on how the environment can be modified to enhance physical and sensory
stimulation.
• Identify opportunities for incorporating sensory stimulation during everyday
interactions.
• Gather data to select suitable activities to meet specific individual needs
• Have the fundamental skills of facilitating a group activity
Target Audience: Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Health Care Assistants,
Family Carers and Volunteers.
Method: Experiential Learning, Lecture and Group Work.
