RCP Public Open Day to Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the NHS
Location: Royal College of Physicians
On Saturday 5 July 2008 the National Health Service (NHS) will be 60 years old. To celebrate this event the Royal College of Physicians of London is holding a Public Open Day from 11am-4pm. Admission is free.
The Open Day is fun and interactive, and of interest to all ages groups. Sessions on 'Medical education and training - from student to consultant' will provide young people considering a career in medicine with the chance to discuss what it is like to be a medical student, the expectations of medical school and postgraduate training.
Visitors can hear talks on what the next 60 years may hold for the NHS and try hands-on activities - from practising resuscitation, finding out your lung capacity and being tested for allergies.
A 1940s themed band will entertain visitors in the College garden, where tours will also be held for people wishing to learn more about medicinal plants.
