Promoting the health of men aged 50+ Conference 12 June 2008
Age Concern Cymru in conjunction with the Men’s Health Forum and the Welsh Assembly Government are running a one day conference on the theme of ‘Promoting the health of men aged 50+’ at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff. Confirmed speakers include Gwenda Thomas AM, Deputy Minister for Social Services, Professor Ian Banks, president of the UK and European Men’s Health Forum and Professor Alan White, the world’s first professor of men’s health. The day will also include workshop sessions on talking about your health, active retirement, bereavement and sex & intimacy.
The aims of the conference are as follows:
- To identify issues surrounding the health and wellbeing of older men in Wales and how to engage effectively to improve and maintain healthy active lifestyles.
- To identify interest, expertise and experience in Wales around health and wellbeing of older men.
- To raise the agenda of men’s health and wellbeing as part of the UK wide Men’s Health Week and to re-ignite interest and action relating to the Men’s health agenda in Wales.
This is the only event of its kind currently planned for Wales during Men’s Health Week and places are filling up quickly.
