Older people's parliament

As part of Community Relations week, NICVA has organised an older people’s “parliament” style debate to be held in the Senate Chamber in Stormont on Friday 1 May commencing at 10.30am.

Location: Senate Chamber- Stormont Buildings- Belfast

Cost: N/A

This event is being run in partnership with the community relations policy forum and the older people's forum and will highlight the role that older people can play in addressing community relations.

The title of the debate is "this Assembly believes that older people can play a key role in creating a shared and better future", and will be chaired by the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Mr William Hay MLA.

There will be a range of speakers contributing to this debate including the older person's advocate Dame Joan Harbison, Baroness May Blood, Dr Nick Acheson, University of Ulster, some older people representatives and MLA's.

The debate will last approximately one hour, 10.30am - 11.30am in the Senate Chamber followed by refreshments in the Rotunda at 11.30am - 12.00 noon.

This event is open to the public but numbers are limited and you must have a personal invitation to gain entrance to Parliament Buildings.
