Old age in a global environment: lessons from the UN programme on ageing
The Institute of Gerontology and the Age UK Group are delighted to announce that the 2010 David Hobman Annual lecture will be given by Dr Alexandre Sidorenko, UN Focal Point on Ageing.

Alexandre Sidorenko joined the United Nations Secretariat in 1988. He has acted as UN Focal Point on Ageing; Chief of the United Nations Programme on Ageing (1993-2002); and Coordinator of the International year of Older Persons (1999) Sidorenko ‘s major responsibilities have included coordination of the UN activities in the area of ageing, including promotion and monitoring of international policy and programmes on ageing. Recent specific areas of his professional work at the UN have included monitoring of the Madrid International Plan of Action on ageing and the development of evidence based policy on ageing
