Feeling the Pinch, Older People’s Experience of the Recession in Ireland
Older & Bolder will be launching our report, Feeling the Pinch, Older People’s Experience of the Recession in Ireland on Wednesday, November 25th. Please note a change of time for the launch. It will now commence at 2.15 p.m. on 25th November.
The venue is the Westin Hotel, Westmoreland St., Dublin.
The speakers on this occasion will be Liza Costello and Stephen O’Hare, authors of the report and Professor Eamon O’Shea, Irish Centre for Social Gerontology, NUIG. The launch will be followed by coffee and will conclude by 3.30 p.m. We hope that you will be able to join us on the day.
The launch and coffee will be followed by a separate briefing meeting, also in the Westin Hotel, for those who are interested in participating in our lobby of TDs on the last weekend of the month, November 27/28.
As you know, Older & Bolder is campaigning in advance of the December Budget to stimulate awareness and action about proposed cuts to State Pension and other basic supports for older people. The Campaign meeting on the 25th will last from 3.30 – 4.15 p.m. The purpose of this campaign meeting is to provide older people, older people’s groups and others who would like to join in Older & Bolder’s lobby of TDs on November 27/28 with background information and campaign materials.
For planning and catering purposes, we need to know how many people are coming (a) to the launch and (b) to the campaign meeting.
Please confirm your attendance to mary.cleary@olderandbolder.ie
Those of you who are unable to attend on the 25th but who would like to participate in the campaign by lobbying TDs or organising the collection of signatures for our petition in defence of the State Pension can contact Older & Bolder on 01-8783623. Campaign packs including posters, leaflets and petition sheets are available and we would be happy to provide information and advice.
