ESRC Seminar Series- Ageing and disability: 'writing in' gender and sexuality
ESRC Seminar Series LINKING AGEING & DISABILITY RIGHTS AGENDAS: Opportunities, Challenges and Tensions
Seminar 2: Thursday 29th September 2011
Ageing and disability: 'writing in' gender and sexuality
The importance of gender and sexuality amongst older and disabled people is often overlooked by policymakers and practitioners. The second seminar in this series will set out the key challenges involved in bringing the ageing and disability rights agendas into dialogue in relation to these issues and will explore points of interconnection and difference. Key speakers from both the 'ageing' and 'disability rights'perspectives will set the scene with short 'position papers'; discussion groups will then take these debates forward. Dialogue will be rooted in 'real life' concerns in the 21st century. The key emphasis will be on exchanging knowledge and ideas through discussion and debate amongst participants, with the aim of fleshing out the difficulties, gaps, and potential solutions in this field.
