Embracing the Challenge: Citizenship & Dementia

6th - 8th May 2008

Stormont Hotel, Belfast

The DSDC-NI is a branch of the Dementia Services Development Centre at University of Stirling.  Our Project is funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies until March 2009.  The project will bring the model of practice of the Iris Murdoch Centre to Northern Ireland.

The DSDC-NI is at the forefront in helping to identify and communicate best practice in many different aspects of dementia. This year's conference is a vehicle that helps achieve that goal. The work of the DSDC-NI brings us into contact with a number of sectors including health, social care, voluntary and independent providers of dementia care to ensure that their work improves the quality of life of citizens with dementia and their family carers.

Dr. Stephen Judd will be joining us as one of our keynote speakers. Dr. Judd is Chief Executive of Hammond Care, an Australian charity that is acknowledged internationally as a leader in supporting people affected by dementia. His presentation will challenge people to look at not just the terms they use, but what they mean when confronted by the realities of dementia. His contribution to the 2007 International Conference at the University of Stirling was highly rated by delegates.

Visit the conference website on http://www.dementiacentreni.org/conferences.asp to read the abstracts for our
symposia papers, which are now on line. This will aid you in selecting your preferred symposia when booking a place.
