Conference - The Future is Older - September 2009
The Crichton Centre for Research in Health and Social Issues will be hosting an international conference ‘The Future is Older’ at the University’s Dumfries Campus on 8th and 9th September 2009. The Centre is a partner in an EU NPP funded project called ‘O4O: Older for Older’ which is led by the Centre for Rural Health, at UHI Millennium Institute, and also involves partners from Northern Ireland, Finland, Sweden and Greenland.
Director of the Centre for Research in Health and Social Studies, Dr Carol Hill, said, “O4O presents a positive view of ageing. It seeks to address the challenges presented by ageing in remote and rural communities, and to explore ways of providing sustainable social enterprises to maintain older people, healthily and happily, in their own communities for as long as possible. The conference is designed to attract a wide international audience to hear, and engage with, a range of experts in areas germane to O4O. These include presentations from The World Health Organisation, the Scottish Government, The National Health Service; Local Authorities; Think Tanks; EU representatives, and community voices.” For further details of the conference and conference registration follow the link on to the right.
