BBSRC Next Generation Conference 2008
Be part of the next generation of researchers
Date: 6-7 November 2008
Venue: Newcastle
Ever wondered how to present grant applications to win funding, or how to get your first fellowship? Interested in a career in industrial research or science policy, but not sure how to get started? BBSRC could have the answers…
Our annual ‘Next Generation of Researchers’ meeting is aimed at final year BBSRC-funded PhD students and early-career researchers funded through BBSRC research grants. It provides a forum to discuss different career paths and future funding opportunities with academics, industrialists and senior BBSRC officials.
Programme
This year’s programme includes a mix of plenary sessions on career planning for academia and industry, international opportunities, entrepreneurial training and taking career breaks. There will also be separate career surgeries for postgraduates and early-career researchers, and an open question and answer session with a panel representing a wide range of career paths, which has been particularly popular in the past.
Registration
There is no registration fee, and BBSRC will pay for participants’ accommodation and meals. However, participants are required to pay travel costs.
This is an exceptionally popular event and places are limited. If you wish to be considered, please contact us by 15 September 2008, providing the following information:
- Name
- Department
- Institution
- Contact email address
- Students must provide their supervisor’s name and period of studentship award
- Postdoctoral researchers should provide a BBSRC research grant reference, and their number of years of postdoctoral experience.
You will be notified in the week commencing 22 September if your registration has been successful.
