Application of Telecare and Assistive Technology in Falls Prevention and Management
Description: This study day will focus on creative and multifactorial interventions to prevent and manage falls risk in the home and care environment (including hospital wards). The study day will explore the role of assistive technology, alarm, technology, telecare, telehealth and lifestyle monitoring in creating a safer but also more facilitatory environment for people at risk of falls, from bed sensors to orientation aids. The aim is to explore a combination of interventions and approaches from low tech to high tech and to ensure that a balanced approach is adopted that ensures that the person’s independence and skills are maintained.
