Alzheimer’s Research Trust Annual Public Meeting
The official launch of Alzheimer’s Research Trust Northern Ireland Network (ART~NI) took place at Belfast Castle in February 2008, when the 1st ART~NI Annual Public Lecture was delivered by Dr Peter Passmore, Consultant in Geriatric Medicine at Belfast City Hospital.
We plan to hold the second ART~NI Public Meeting at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday 5th May 2009, at the Waterfront Hall (Studio) in Belfast (tea/coffee will be available from 6.30 p.m.). On this occasion we have two invited speakers who will describe their work relating to important issues in caring for people with dementia, whether at home, or in a professional setting:
Ann Scott (Practice Development Facilitator, Northern Health & Social Care Trust)
“Rising to the Challenge: Enabling care staff to understand and work more effectively with behaviours that challenge in dementia”
Mary McGrath (Specialist Occupational Therapist, Belfast Health & Social Care Trust)
“The home-based memory rehabilitation programme”
The talks will be followed by refreshments, and an open Question and Answer session.
Please feel free to circulate this flyer among your colleagues and to any contacts you have within the community or with carers organisations. It would also be very helpful if you could advertise this event on your public notice boards and your websites where possible.
Anyone interested in attending this Public Meeting should contact me by email: km.coyles@ulster.ac.uk or telephone: 028 7032 3091, by no later than Tuesday 28th April 2009 (as numbers are important for catering purposes).
