Aims :- This workshop provides participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes
necessary to plan, facilitate and evaluate an activity programme for people with dementia.
Objectives :-Participants will be able to:
• Appreciate the values/benefits of providing activities for people with dementia
• Understand the need for adaptation of approach for this client group
• Give consideration to safety issues
• Assess, facilitate and evaluate involvement in activity programme
• Appreciate the role of documentation in this process
• Plan individualised programmes for residents.
• Learn suitable activities for early, middle and late stages of dementia.
Target Audience: Activity Co-ordinators, Nurses, Care Staff, Allied Health
Professionals, Family Carers and Volunteers.
Method :- Experiential Learning, Lecture and Group work. The afternoon session will be
purely practical ideas.
