A new KT-EQUAL event on "Achieving and sustaining digital engagement" has now been advertised on the KT-EQUAL website.
This event will take place on the 16th of February 2011 at Avonmouth House in London.
This event follows on from a very successful KT-EQUAL workshop held in the University of Reading on the 16th April 2010 on the digital identity of older people (http://kt-equal.org.uk/calendar/57/11-Digital-Identity).
Interest in enabling every member of the UK population to access and obtain the benefits of digitalisation has escalated over the last two years. The UK Government have set a target for the UK to become the first nation in the world where everyone can use the web by the end of the Olympic year 2012. Older people are one of the marginalised groups who are tending to get left behind in the digital revolution. To address this inequality many initiatives have been introduced both locally and nationally to encourage older people to access and use the internet. Our workshop aims to share some of the excellent work that is being taken forward and identify through discussions with older people, professionals, policy implementers and researchers how we can build upon this foundation for the future.
This event is supported by AGE UK and KT-EQUAL.
